Research

The themes I am interested in are (personal) identity, the embodiment of identity and the role of others in developing an identity. The philosophical sources I use are mainly from the fields of phenomenology, hermeneutics, feminist theory, and psychoanalysis.
The project I am currently working on is entitled: The Otherness of the Self. Ricoeur and Feminist Theory. It  connects the phenomenological-hermeneutical and feminist-psychoanalytical tradition in contemporary continental philosophy. In The project confronts the notion of the self that Paul Ricoeur develops in Oneself as Another (1992) with the notions of embodied identity and sexual difference of Luce Irigaray, and with Judith Butler’s concept of performativity and exclusion, and her ethics of accountability.
